Stag with bird friend
This painting came to me after I had finished my painting entitled “Stag’s wisdom”. As I finished that painting a new painting emerged with a little bird on the horns of the stag. They both looked like best friends, like the perfect pair going for a stroll in the forest :-)…. and looking for the next fun adventure.
To me, the stag represents the divine masculine (the healed masculine as opposed to the fragmented and wounded masculine). It is a really majestic animal that represents strength, courage, power, protection but also a safe and strong grounding. It provides a strong foundation from which we can grow, evolve and expand.
I find it interesting that its horns, which are made of bones but look like wood and like roots, are going upwards, contrary to trees which have roots going down into the earth. It feels to me that the stag, which helps create a strong foundation on the physical plane, also helps to create and develop a stronger connection with the spiritual realm.
The more grounded and whole we are, the better we can connect to spirit, to the divine and to source. Also, the more we integrate both our feminine and masculine aspects and heal what needs to be healed in both of these aspects within ourselves, the more connected and whole we can be.
The bird represents spontaneity, freedom, innocence, naivety and childlike behavior. He brings all of these qualities to the stag that is a bit more down to earth… and maybe a bit more serious too…He also brings lightness, joy & happiness through its presence and singing, keeping the spirit of the stag high at all times. There is no space to be depressed or down with this type of a friend.
The little bird is a breath of fresh air and brings in perpetual renewal. He is also the one guiding the stag, inspiring him to go on cool and fun adventures. Even though he is much smaller than the stag, he can see more than the stag because he is positioned higher and he can also fly, an ability that can prove to be very useful to find the next best adventure and destination and to avoid bad and unwanted encounters or situations. The stag wouldn’t know that much about his surrounding environment without the presence and help of his bird friend. :-)
